Lucy has been summoned back to the castle to
help King Henry find a crucible that has been stolen from his Inner
Council. The crucible was supposed to
help the council make gold to then buy food for the starving kingdom and they
want Lucy to use her magic to locate the thief and the crucible. Lucy hasn’t had much luck using her magic
since the last time she saved the kingdom, but the little magic she possesses she
feels as though it is being blocked within the castle walls. Lucy is unsure of who is friend and who is
foe, but she will not abandon the kingdom until she feels like she has tried
everything within her powers.
This
second book in the Chantress series has a great storyline that builds off the characters
from the first. The mystery of who stole
the crucible and who Lucy can trust is woven so well that it left me guessing
until the end. The ending made it clear
that there would be a third book. I
enjoy this series because the main character is strong, independent and loyal
and it is clean read which makes it easy to recommend.
